How is the lake filling? What is the consensus on how the fishing is going to be?

Not getting any rain to fill it. Report last week says it's about 25 ft from being full

Last I saw the dam is still not completed. They have closed one gate allowing the lake to fill about halfway. Some are saying it could still be a couple of years before NTWMD deems it safe for boating.

NTMWD will notify the public when the lake is safe to open
Fannin County, TX — May 12, 2021
The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) would like to remind everyone that Bois d’Arc Lake is not yet open for recreation. Completing construction and other conditions such as having a safe level of water must take place before the lake can open for boating, fishing and other recreational activities. Additionally, NTMWD is consulting with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Fannin County Sheriff’s Department to determine the appropriate time. NTMWD will notify the public when Bois d’Arc Lake is ready and safe to open for recreation.

NTMWD began impounding water on April 14, 2021, and how long it takes to fill is dependent upon rainfall in the lake watershed. Using Bois d’Arc Lake for recreation prior to its opening is considered trespassing and law enforcement may be notified.

“We are all excited that Bois d’Arc Lake is filling with water and the opening of the lake is in sight, but we need to be patient,” said Jennifer Stanley, Lake Operations Manager for NTMWD. “Much work remains to be completed before it is safe to open,” she added.

At the dam site, construction crews are topping off the dam embankment and finishing work on the raw water intake structure, spillway and pump station. Other work at the lake includes completing the NTMWD lake administrative offices and the three boat ramps.

Bois d’Arc Lake is located northeast of Bonham in Fannin County. Find more information on the lake at BoisdArcLake.org.

Nobody should be concerned about when that fishless mud hole with be filled. Nothing to see here. Move along.
