Back from our yearly surf fishing trip. This year our beach house was next to old roll over pass.
Wednesday we had a stiff south wind. We ran the drone 600+' out a few time with fresh cut mullet and only caught gaftops. Went bayside and caught a bucket of crabs with mullet heads and had a nice crab boil. Thursday was family Day. Friday the winds calmed down and we ran the drone out with same results. Took Kayak out and it was expected. Bait hit bottom and within a few minutes gaftop or small shark. Went back to shore and ran drone a few more times. Managed one 38" Red. Saturday morning was an insane north wind. Almost lost the drone so we took a break. We went back crabbing and loaded up again. Came back in the evening and set up the rods. Winds down to 15-20 out of north. Water was trying to get green but still muddy 100' in. This time we ran cut crab via drone 300ish feet. Caught a gatop. Ran whole crab and managed 2 nice reds. Gentleman next to use was wadding casting and managed 2 reds over a few hours. Set back up Sunday for a few hours with whole crab and didnt get a sniff. All and all was good trip. Weather was great and crabs and reds showed up for dinner. Group on Facebook said they caught some reds on fillet gaftop. Plenty of those to go around if true.

Sounds like a great time with family. Too bad the weather was rough.
