I fished a bass club tournament on Waco this weekend and when I was at the Speegelville ramp my prop got dinged on rocks pretty hard. This morning I noticed oil under my lower unit, not much just enough to make a small puddle. I spun the prop and didn’t see any wobble and saw no dings on the prop but the oil has me concerned, maybe a seal? Should I drain the lower unit and check for metal or just take it to the shop and have them check it out?

If you have any oil coming out at all it's worth taking in and having it looked at.

Spin you prop and see if it has any wobble. If it wobbles get it shop and call your insurance company. Because prop shaft is bent.

When my prop shaft got bent it was easy to miss if you were looking at the prop when you spun it. But very noticeable when you were looking strait at the prop nut when you spun the prop.

Go ahead and drain the oil and refill it. Check it again after you have run it once or twice. If it’s milky then ur getting water in the lower.

The prop shaft seals need to be replaced , the shock of the prop hitting something hard distorted the seals.
GOD is good!

Oil coming out, water will go in. Get ur fixed. This. If you don't and you get water inside the gearcase it can lead to costly repairs later. Been there & done that.
