Half day trip with guide, Paul Keith on Caddo this last Saturday. First time ever on the lake. Scenery was outstanding. Fishing was not. Beautiful (cold) morning with lots of fog over the water. Paul had warned me the fishing would be slow, especially since it was the first day after a cold front. It's a different way of fishing for sure. Nothing deeper than 3 feet and mostly targeting creek bends. Didn't fish the cypress trees or pads....just the open spots on the bends where we could catch small schools of bass roaming. Might have caught 10-12 fish from 7am-noon with 2 that would go over 2lbs. The rest were dinks. T-rigs Zoom finesse worms on 1/8oz lead weights. Lead better than tungsten because lead is lighter and won't sink into the heavy silt bottom. Junebug was the better color. Paul's history on the lake made the discussion enjoyable. He did say if we wanted to target bigger fish we could punch the mats BUT he said we'd be lucky to get 2-3 bites in a half day. Caught 90% of our fish from 7am-9am. VERY slow after the sun came up over the trees.

Paul is good people. He took my Wife and I out on the lake the first time we went there. We had a great time. Glad to hear he is still guiding there.
