The Lake Placid Dam failed this past Thursday thus draining the lake. So far no plans have been made for repairs. Four dams have been insufficient and are not operational. Lake Dunlap, Lake Wood, Lake Gonzales, and Now Lake Placid. Needless to say some of the best crappie /Bluegill holes have been destroyed. No telling when the fishing on the lower Guadalupe River will make a come back. Sad event for sure! realmad

Side Note: Also prayers up for the home and property owners who live on Placid. It is just like Dunlap now! realmad realmad realmad

Saw this on the News. Unbelievable! Just another normal day for the GBRA. Rumer has it that if the property owners do not pay for the repairs the dams will remain non operational. Just like Dunlap the home/property owners of Placid have some major decisions to make!

Side Note: Home owners on Mcqueeney have a lot to be thinking about now! Four dams down and two to go. Mcqueeney and Meadow!

Total Shame. I feel for you Curtis. I know you and your buddies have spent a lot of time over the years fishing that part of the Guadalupe with HUGE success. I can remember telling you a few years ago, that part of the Guadalupe all the way to Lake Wood was the best Crappie/Bluegill fishing in Texas. Now for the time it's gone. I heard the currents from Meadow down are way to fast to fish that part of the river and that the river is a mess. It's time of search for new places to fish. I guess on a good note at least you have Mcqueeney. thumb

Side Note: I feel bad for the Home/Property owners who live on Placid. Like has already been mentioned, they have some very big decisions to make involving their lives. Do not look for any help from the GBRA if major repairs on the dam are needed. It will be up to the home/property owners to pay for it. eeks
