Your ideas please on solving a neighborhood mystery:

A dog known around here as Scooby Do thanks to his big goofy appearance and gentle nature returned home last night with some six inches of tail missing. No indication of a fight. We do have coyotes…but Scooby is so much bigger I don’t see one attacking him.

Anyone have ideas what might do such a thing. I’m hoping we don’t have sickos in the hood.

A vet should be able to look at it and tell whether it was sliced, crushed, or bitten.

Just got notice that vet is amputating his tail. Makes me wonder if it got crushed somehow.

I'm waiting on the vet's assessment of "how the injury might have happened."

Addendum: So is everyone else.

Maybe he finally caught his tail and bit it off.

Just keep him calm and relaxed because if he bites someone
they may have to cut his head off to test for rabies.
Don't loose his head off a little piece of tail.

Just so you know retailing dogs without a license is a serious offense.
