I bought a new to me boat recently and plan to take my wife to Texoma Sunday afternoon for a few hours in hopes of finding a few stiper. I'm an average bass fisherman but never gone after the Stiper on Texoma. What are the basics I need to keep in mind to find them this time of year? Main lake points? Use the electronics and find them deep and slab them up? Find birds? All of the above?

Any basic advice would be appreciated.

We will put in at the dam or at Highport.

Also, is the lake safe to run? Do I have to worry about anything sitting just under the surface?

It’s getting pretty shallow up close to the islands and also near the south end of Burns Run point. I haven’t been near Fobbs Bottom for a couple of years but that’s a known mud hole so give it a wide berth if you go west of the Willis Bridge for any reason.

You definitely should call him that is very cool
one thing I would like to add this is the perfect time a year to learn there's lots of feeding fish that are schooling and with birds to help you locate and target the schools
Fall is a great time on Texoma
