War is like a good fist fight. There's only so much talking to be done. And when it's done, it's time to start smacking fools

Remove the political nonsense, and all of our wars are over quickly. We need to be twice as savage as our enemies.

I'm down. taz

Pulled us out of the Great Depression. Restarted industries that were absolutely dead because demand disappeared for decades.

Not as far as troops on the ground. But we were providing equipment and supplies and munitions. And if I am not mistaken, the Navy was providing destroyer escorts against u-boats while crossing the Atlantic for a while before the attack at Pearl.

Robert Heinlein often said that the root cause of war is almost always population pressure.

I see no reason to disagree with him on this.

Before the attack on Pearl Harbor we were involved in the South Pacific to limit Japan's access to natural resources from the countries there (Burma, what is now Vietnam, etc). We were aligned with the British who were worried about their territory in Singapore, Hong Kong and India. The final straw was our oil embargo on Japan.

I consider the attack on Pearl Harbor terrible but we knew an attack on the US was imminent. The government gave multiple warnings to McArthur in the Philippines or to the other US held areas that the attack was coming. We just didn't have the imagination that they could hit Hawaii.

And we have been feeding the military industrial complex ever since. Look at the "cold" war for example.

For those who continue to claim "religion" is the main reason for most wars, be serious.

It's for land, resources and/or power over people, control.

We haunt "won" a war since WW2. Since then, its not about winning, its about money.

100% about money and exploiting our youth as an expendable commodity to fill the pockets of few.

I am all for war when war is needed, hell most enjoy seeing "evil" killed. But, I just recently have a dove into researching and studying the origins of war and it's truly disgusting.

God Bless all we have lost and every single person that has served our country! Y'all deserve your "cut of the profits"

We primarily entered WW2 because we had the Europeans in hock so high that they said if t he lost we would never recover a cent of what we were owed for supplies and munitions. The big money few would not let that happen and thus "encouraged" a sitting president into enter into a world war. Next they came up with the premise it was to save democracy and was the war to end all wars.

80 years later, how did that sh*t work out?
