Spurs fan for life, but I would agree Pop has become a head case. However some of his remarks are accurate based on what is written in history books and biographies. He enslaved and mutilated Indigenous peoples When Columbus first set foot on Hispaniola, he encountered a population of Indigenous peoples called the Taino. A friendly group, they willingly traded jewelry, animals, and supplies with the sailors. “They were very well built, with very handsome bodies and very good faces,” Columbus wrote in his diary. “They do not carry arms or know them....They should be good servants.” The Indigenous peoples were soon forced into slavery, and punished with the loss of a limb or death if they did not collect enough gold (a portion of which Columbus was allowed to keep for himself). Between the European’s brutal treatment and their infectious diseases, within decades, the Taino population was decimated. https://www.biography.com/news/christopher-columbus-day-factsNot disputing any of this but humans throughout the ages have all done this. I can't stand that guy, hate that he has to inject "his" viewpoint into an entertainment industry. I hate that he is given a platform such as that to spew his garbage. Then take Popovich out of the whole discussion. Honestly if you read up on the history of Columbus, he is not someone I would consider celebrating. Columbus reflected the age he lived in. He was also a visionary, incredibly brave and a great leader. But then I may be a bit slanted since I am one-fourth Italian, was born on Columbus Day, and my middle name is Christopher.

I bet he and his men burned wood and therefore polluted the atmosphere, too. He should have built windmills.
Let's dig up his remains and desecrate them!

You can’t take Popovich out of the whole discussion. That’s what the original post was about. You could start your own post on the history of Columbus. I’m sure it would be exciting.

I used to like him, now he just needs to STFU. San Antonio goes crazy anytime he says something. Bunch of sheep in this town. Mask mandate ended for NSID, dropped my kid off without his mask, wife picked him up with one. I hate this damn city and Popovich.

Funny that so many here would criticize Popovich and defend Gruden. Says a lot. What really funny is someone who wished economic devastation for America because he was intimidated by another man, then still comes in here wagging his finger at anyone else- I wouldn’t think too much of a feller like that, if someone actually WAS that low. Hypothetically of course, because surely no one would do that, huh-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

HasBen is absolutely correct how can anyone compare someone releasing private e-mails versus standing on a soapbox and running his mouth like oily diarrhea.

Funny that so many here would criticize Popovich and defend Gruden. Says a lot. Hey, Superman showed up! Jelly brain. You are so creative. Just amazing. With 75,000 post, it would seem that you would know more, understand more, and not be such an insult to Pistol Pete. I respect you for taking care of your son, but nothing else about you ever impresses me. Maybe that you are able to keep your job when hanging out here while working. You have definitely conned someone.
