What ever happened to Wounded Bear?

Look! Up in the sky. It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's an EMP!

I was in Vietnam for 15 months in 1967-68 but was never, to my knowledge, even close to places it was used. In our area (Central Highlands with the 4th Inf Div) it was mostly used along the road sides to wipe out the cover the NVA and VC could use to attack truck convoys. I was rarely on those roads.

That was not my experience

I saw vast areas that were completely defoliated that were not anywhere close to roads.

They used Agent Orange at our base to keep a wide swath clear of vegetation between our perimeter and the jungle.

Just curious. Were you in the Central Highlands?

No, I was north by Da Nang but I flew over a lot of the country particularly along the coast and a lot in the south. In the south it was common to see defoliation and B-52 craters in the middle of nowhere. How any man or beast survived that kind of destruction is beyond me

In 70-71, when the troop drawdown was in full effect, we got a LOT of guys from the 4th who came in from the Central Highlands
