Here on Somerville trying to get on some hybrids with my 9yr old son and nephew. We fished this morning with live shad, marking lots of fish but nada! Tried a few spots on the hot spot map and a couple of the humps out there as well. I've heard right at sun up is good but can you catch them mid morning too? Any help would be much appreciated. I normally fish Belton for hybrids which is quite a bit deeper than Somerville, so don't know what depth they normally hang at on this lake. Thanks
.

Carolina rig with about a 3ft leader hooked through the nostrils. Tried drifting and spot locking as well.

I would try these spots…I’ve caught hybrid in these spots before. I mainly use homemade Mepps #4’s and 5” chartreuse swim baits.

Thank you very much for the info. We fished about 3 spots right in that area in about 20 fow marking lots of fish but no takers. Don’t know what works best out here, live shad vs mepps or swimbaits. What depth would you normally find them in that area if you don’t mind me asking?

My target depth is 18-28. But this is for hybrids and White bass. Mainly I look for those 20ft or deeper, long points, ledges or islands that are near the old creek beds. The hybrids love to swim those creeks and come chase the bait on those structures nearby.

Thanks again WB. We ended up going after some crappie yesterday around noon and put a limit in the cooler, so that at least saved the trip. Will try again for hybrids some other time.
