I am going to be spending some time in the Austin area and wanted to know if Lake Travis is a good white/striper fishing lake. I have not fished this lake before. I also noticed that there are almost zero posts here about this lake. It is so different than Cedar Creek Lake where i normally fish. Any info on how the water clarity changes the way you fish. Or any general information would be appreciated.

I would go to Lake Buchanan. Also, Walter Long or Decker Lake had hybrids and I assume they still do.

one more try and i'll let this fall off if nobody wants to comment. kinda weird people don't want to talk about fishing on a fishing forum.

I've never heard much about Travis on the TFF. I've been watching the thread my self to see if anyone had anything to say. I haven't looked so I can't say this is the case, but if I had to guess, after the drought when TPWD started up their stockings back up; I would assume that they probably shove those damn large mouth bass down our throat with stocking millions of those fish and if we're lucky, maybe a few hundred striped fish. Again, just assuming. I haven't checked what they have documented.

Go to the Freshwater Reports link that is further down the page under the link for Whites-Hybrid-Striper. There is a thread on Travis that is 8 pages long.

I have had limited success catching whites at Lake Travis (I don't have a boat so only fish from the bank). A few times I've run into them at Jonestown. I have also spoke to boaters that have had some success with whites in that area. Just a heads up, they started charging $20 to park regardless of whether or not you are using the boat ramp at Jones Bros Park.

I don’t get on here much. Travis has better quality stripers than most lakes if you can find them. We have caught a few 20+ lbers and tons of double digits

As Voodew mentioned Travis has some monsters. Those who figure out travis do well. Lot of night fishing as you can see in the pics

I didn’t fish Travis this year, but my buddy did and caught up to 20lb fish
I only fish Travis at night due to ridiculously big boats on that lake that show no respect for people fishing.

Now that's what I'm talking about, very nice!! I've been wanting to get out there myself but will be learning from scratch on Travis.
