So i happen to come across a lowerance Hook 2 tripleshot 12 inch screen that was given to me for a gift . So question of the day is do you think the screen is to big for a kayak. I put it on and am going to test it out. It seems kinda large maybe it takes getting used to. Just want your opinion and also of you have the tripleshot do you like it.

My concern would be that it would get in the way of casting/retrieving. When it comes to fishing out of a kayak; many times, less is more.

That being said, if you mount it in an unobtrusive location, it could work perfectly well for you.

Yes, you would want a 12 V 20aH battery for that 12 inch monitor.
For a kayak, that would have you looking at lithium iron phosphate options.

Well i tried it out today. It was in a location that wasnt going to be in the way. I am running two 12v 7 amp batteries ( for deer feeders) for about 2 hours with no problems. Thank you for your words and advice i will look into the lithium batteries

If you want a simple, all in one option and think you could get by with 10 amp hours

For me and my blind eyes a 12" would be awesome. For the battery I've found these are awesome especially for the price. They also have different sizes. I charge mine (I have 3 of them) with a regular 12 volt battery charger on the 2 amp setting and never had any issues.

You get out of it what you put into it!

Because of the limited available space of a kayak you're always looking for the "what do I want to bring, VS what do I really need". That being said a larger screen is a space sacrifice I was willing to take.

I'm going to use my 12 inch Elite TI2 on my Kayak, just switch it between the boat and the yak. Mine pulls .9 amps, according to Lowrance. The Hook 2 should probably be close to the same. Pretty sure you could get most, if not all, of one day, out of a 10ah.

If you go with a lithium battery, be sure to educate yourself on chargers.
