On March 30, 2011 TFF Member King_Fisher created the Original Texas Google Bank Fishing Map Thread to provide locations of his personal fishing spots on a Texas Google Bank Fishing Map he had created. I am pleased to announce the reincarnation of his Texas Google Bank Fishing Map and to avoid confusion with the original map have named the current map as Bank Fishing Map - Texas.

King_Fisher allowed the use of the data he had started collecting in 2010 to use as a starting point. The Internet was researched in an attempt to verify that the original data was still current, any bank fishing spots that appeared to have been paved over or were now on private property were deleted and all new bank fishing spots found were added.

All the bank fishing spots were updated to include images (if available), geographic coordinates, street address, website address (if available), comments (if available), source of the data, and last date the data was updated. The information added was based on Internet searches and there is no guarantee that this information is 100% accurate but has resulted in 309 bank fishing spots located on the map as of October 1, 2021.

Minimal data was available for locations where bank anglers could purchase live baits. The Internet was researched in an attempt to verify that the live bait shops data was still current, any shops were deleted that appeared to no longer doing business and to add any new live bait shops found. Again using Internet searches more live bait sites were added and the remaining original live bait shops locations were updated to include images from the Internet (if available), geographic coordinates, street address, website address (if available), comments (if available), source of the data, and last date the data was updated. The information added was based on Internet searches and there is no guarantee that this information is 100% accurate but has resulted in 147 live bait shops located on the map as of October 1, 2021.

To assist map users a How to Use the Bank Fishing Map - Texas user guide and a Bank Fishing Map - Texas Submission form to submit new or updated information were created.

The Bank Fishing Map - Texas contains three layers (Texas Counties, Bait Shops, and Bank Fishing Spots) which can be turned on or off using the check boxes. Once selected each layer has as its first two options links to display the How to Use the Bank Fishing Map - Texas user guide for the map and Bank Fishing Map - Texas Submission form to submit new or updated information. Following those two links are the actual data for the three selected.

The Bank Fishing Map - Texas publisher is just the collector of the information and does not have any first hand knowledge. All questions about any bank fishing spot or bait shop from the map should be asked in the TFF Bank Fishing Forum under its own thread. This will allow users to easily find that topic that might otherwise be buried somewhere on a thread with multiple pages.

This map will only succeed with the users providing inputs for new information to be added or existing data to be changed or deleted. For that to happen it is requested that the Bank Fishing Map - Texas Submission form be used to submit all new or updated information.

Enjoy!

Thanks for all the work! I did notice right off the bat though that it is missing a lot of spots, for instance some lakes that have some shore access including Canyon, Medina, Bastrop, Choke Canyon and Corpus Christi.

Agree that there are many missing bank fishing spots and live bait shops. Since I am not familiar with most lakes, rivers, creeks, or saltwater areas I purposely did not include those.

If users know of any that should be added they can use the Bank Fishing Map - Texas Submission form so it will get added.

Form was received. Bank Fishing Spot "Trinity River - Elm Fork - Fish Trap Park" was removed due to:

"This location has been closed for a few years and no plans to re-open in the near future as the Corp of engineers is unable to provide funds to make necessary repairs from past flooding that destroyed the $1M+ in repairs that were completed."
