I’ve done it on and off for years with various cars and trucks and had no problems. But i just googled about it and they talk about protecting all electrical components, sensors, distributor, etc. Is that all required now days? Sure be a pita but i don’t want to mess anything up on my 2012 F150 5.0 Mine is dusty as hell and now has some neutralized battery acid crud from when i cleaned my terribly corroded battery connectuons.

When vehicles had distributors you had to protect them if you wanted to drive out of the car wash. I have not used the car wash for quite a while to clean the engine bay. Too much risk in my mind. If I feel the need to do it it use a damp rag or get out my steam cleaner.

Thanks guys. Stump jumper, I just realized a brain fart when I mentioned distributor but that's what the googler said. I can't even remember the last vehicle I had that did have a distributor or even anything that looked like one but it was lots of years ago. I don't have a steam cleaner and a damp rag isn't going to cut it on what needs to be hosed off of this one.
I guess I will just be real careful and work on that battery / baking soda mess and probably wait till I get back from my trip I'm leaving on to Shawnee OK this evening for the rest of the cleaning. I need to not be stuck somewhere with electrical problems. I may just hand wipe that battery mess for now and not take any chances till i get back.
I'm going to get a new battery now and maybe wipe on that area some while the old one is out of the way.

We do it all the time at the car lot before we send units to auction and never had issues.

I do it to all my company trucks at least once a month as well as my Gator because of the crud we have to drive thru in our plants . What I do it use my pressure washer ay home . Then I use my compressure and blow off all the electric conetions real good . Then I spray them with just a little coat of WD 40 and use the compressor to blow them off again . Never had a problem . I do cover the fuse box on my Gator 1st with a baggie .
May your wiener schnitzel always stay above your lederhosein.

Watch your aim, only blast non-electrical places except the battery gets cleaned well. I live on a dirt road so it is necessary once in a while.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

If you were closer, I'd dry-ice blast it for you. It would look brand new.

I went ahead and did a light job at the car wash on the stand-by pressure that comes on first after you pay but before you pull the trigger. Im guessing at this place that it was around 500 psi and i was backed off a decent distance. It did a fair job of cleaning and i got a little more aggressive and closer on that battery grunge. But still didn’ pull the trigger. I didn't want that [censored] blasting back in my face or clothes even though i had safety glasses on. I left the truck running the whole time. It had about a whole box of baking soda slurry on the old battery before the wash. Now it has a brand new battery and cleaned up terminals. And i had zero trouble going to Shawnee and back. I finally remembered doing that that wash the engine thing to an 87 ford escort that i had to leave running if i planned on driving it out of that wash bay instead of pushing it out. Only took twice for that to etch in to my remember. Back in those days i pulled all kind of screw ups and learning the hard way but there was usually a fair amount of beer and and weed in me which i think contributed just a little bit to things going south. I’ve just forgot a lot since then Thanks y’all for the replies!!

I have washed all my vehicles engines at the car wash bay. Use the degreaser and then use the water to clean it off.
