My boat partner and I hired J.R. Hall with Blacksheep Guide for a day trip on Wednesday. Not to catch fish, but teach up how to catch fish. The total number of fish we caught was 5, (35, 22,18, and two 10's). We launched in Huntsville at Ditto. JR showed us how to use the map and graph which structure did/did not hold large fish. Most importantly, how/where to look for sunken timber, certain rock piles, etc. Rule #1, if you can see with your eyes, don't bother fishing it. After that, we headed up to Lake Guntersville. This is where JR taught us how to lock through a dam. Once on Guntersville, we split the rest of the trip again using planer boards, drifting, and suspend fishing. The secret this time of year is to use your TM to fish just inside the river channel in 60' of water. Can't wait until this Saturday to see if the students remember all the knowledge he gave us.

There was a 2 hour wait for a tugboat to finish lowering 12 barges, so we graphed and fished Guntersville Dam.

Boats are like Strippers. They work until you quit throwing $100 bills at them.

Nice work fellas! How is the ell grass? Still causing issues with the planer boards?
