About 15 years ago my uncle took me to a creek either in Brady or Winters(been so long I dont remember exactly) that had freshwater shrimp in it. Scooping a net into moss you could catch hundreds of 1/2 inch clear shrimp, similar to the ones sold in pet stores as "Ghost shrimp". Anyone know any creeks/rivers/lake near DFW that have these?

I think those are probably "Fairy Shrimp" like seen above. And I think they are pretty much everywhere. I know that I seined up some in a Brazos River tributary outside of Bryan, Tx. many years ago.

They are definite not fairy shrimp. Fairy shrimp are what are sold as "sea monkeys" in kits.

Well, the article I attached said otherwise, but further research says that you are correct. I still can't locate exactly what they are.

The shrimp are in the genus Palaemonetes . They are commonly called grass shrimp, glass shrimp, or ghost shrimp. Lots of species. They can be found in freshwater or saltwater.

Lots of aquarium/fish stores sell them. I used to feed them to my rio grande cichlid. He absolutely loved them
