Got drawn for an Audad hunt there back in the early nineties.. Walked miles of it and traversed some [censored] I didn't think I could..
Incredible scenery and for those young uns out there who like hiking/climbing.. It would be hard to beat in Texas..

Try Caprock next time. there is a real possibility of getting stuck in the park if the bison block the roads

Caprock Canyons SP is just east of there. It’s got a state bison herd. Also, Copper Breaks SP is a little further east and is a designated dark skies park. Both are on my list to visit. Texas is a beautiful state. Jimmy

Copper Breaks SP is A LOT farther east, like over 2 hourson hwy 287...it's south of Quanah on Hwy 6...halfway to Crowell, my metropolis hometown...neat little lake...lots of campin' spots...or was in the '80's...may have rotted and caved n by now
