Staying a few nights on the West side of Broken Bow near Carson Creek area. Anyone have suggestion for ramp to launch and load solo?

Id rather stay away from the marina , I hear it is a zoo

I normally use the Hawks or Firefly ramps for the simple fact that they are better protected from wind or wakes from ski boats.

Good information. I’m following this thread too. Every Google or Google Map search I do just shows these same few ramps pictured below that are up close to the State Park & marina. Hawks Road? Firefly? Not finding any of these others. What is the furthest “upstream” safe/usable ramp for someone wanting to fish the upper lake/river? TY [Linked Image]

The one I told him about on that map is labeled as Carson creek Recreation area. That road is Hawk drive. When you turn off 259 all roads lead you to a ramp. when you come to that crossroad you can turn left on FIREFLY drive, right on Hawk or stay straight on GRASSHOPPER. I guess they named the roads for 911 purposes. Us old timers still call them North ramp(firefly), South ramp(hawk) or East(grasshopper). There is a ramp at the Lakeview lodge but it sucks. Coyote drive ramp (area D) isn't good when the lake is low and have to run around too many skiers. Like Rhodes said use firefly or hawk ramp, there is really not maybe 200 yards of distance difference between them. Depends on the wind direction and how busy I expect the lake to be on which ramp I use.

None of those ramps are close to the river. Firefly or Grasshopper would technically be the closest but still at least 7 miles of running before you would get to what we consider the river then you still have 14 miles of that. I don't mind showing you how to run it but the navionics map used to be correct if you have that but there are lots of short cuts depending on water level. There is a ramp up north on Sherwood road (about 15 miles above Carson creek turn off). It is 9 miles to the water on an old blacktop road. The last half mile is gravel but you are idling pretty much then. That's where I go when the lake gets super high and the park closes the lower end. You just stay on the black top. You are in the boonies and there are cabins there a couple hundred yards from the water.

There is one way up north off of Sherwood Road it's in a game reserve it's pretty remote you have to park on the side of the road, but the fishing is real good up there, especially the top water bite so it's worth it. I have a buddy who lives up there and he had been wearing me out to come up and go fishing, after 13 years I finally broke down and went and loved it.

Thanks for the clarification on the right turn on Hawk Drive.

Where would you hit first for early topwater from the Hawk Ramp. I will probably go up to that big S curve in the north end and fish that point after that. thanks

West side of the river right before you get to Bull creek (inside bend), you will see a stump flat. Start on south end of it. There is deep water real close. Lots of spots and chance for a good smallie or black.

There are 8 ramps on BB lake. This video is a review of 6 of them.

David Welcher: is this the ramp you are talking about way up the river? Down @ the dead end of Game Preserve Road? This is a public ramp? Also, is it fine for a full size bassboat(21’ Ranger). If so I like how far up river this is. TY! [Linked Image]
