Now that I am retired, I decided to sit around doing nothing. I deserve it. So I have decided to take up sipping Bourbon as a new hobby. Tried Jack Daniels - ok but harsh on my throat. I am now on Jim Beam - much smoother so far. Just looking for some suggestions since I am new at this. I know there are some real pros out there.

Basil Hayden's is a super smooth bourbon that won't break the bank.
Any of the Wellers are pretty good, 12 year is exceptional but tough to find.
Angel's Envy is also very smooth but a bit more pricy.

I've become a big fan of Legent. Generally easy to find, and not over priced. Very smooth sipper.

IMO, Jack Daniels isn't all that great.

If you're new to bourbon, then I would recommend you stay in the middle of the road. Try something like Elijah Craig, Knob Creek, 1792, Maker's 46, Buffalo Trace.

For the price it's hard to beat Jim Beam.
