You might check Cliff View, really enjoyed my stay there especially if you have a boat. Ramp and boat slips.

Not sure if it's the "best place to stay," but we usually stay at the Lodge on Serenity Cove. Hotel-type rooms and cabins. Pretty good restaurant on the premises. Ramp on site as well.

I always stay at the Whitney inn. It’s clean and cheap. Good people.

Not sure if it's the "best place to stay," but we usually stay at the Lodge on Serenity Cove. Hotel-type rooms and cabins. Pretty good restaurant on the premises. Ramp on site as well. Serenity Cove is old, dated and inexpensive. That describes almost everywhere on Lake Whitney. A lake that time forgot. That said it’s really a decent family place. Decent cabins and a pool(for kids if necessary). Has a boat ramp but might need 4x4 for the short road DOWN to the ramp. The old cafe is really good with nice views from high above the lake. Cafe only open on weekends anymore but we occasionally drive out from Glen Rose for their Friday night “all you can eat” catfish. Really good. https://www.thelodgeonserenitycove.com/the-cove-cafe/
