Sometimes my spot lock wants to work and sometimes the trolling motor spins both ways and shuts off? Has anyone had this issue. I’ve heard getting the gps Bluetoothed in the back of the boat might help any ideas.

It happens when your motor was not properly installed. Part of the installation process is INDEXING the motor/head assembly. The motor is designed to turn to a certain point, but the motor is also connected to a cable that is connected to the pedal. The pedal bottoms out in it’s travel prior to the motor turning to its limits. Anything that restricts the motor from turning freely will disengage spot lock.

It doesn’t have squat to do with gps-ing anything to anything. Start with the basics. Read the owners manual and install the troller correctly, following EVERY step in the correct sequence. roflmao

cheers

The shut-off can be due to a few things. Faulty sensor that reverses the motor (there is one near the front of the foot pedal base and one at the back of the foot pedal base that magnets in the foot pedal get near and reverses the motor), faulty circuit board, or something restricting the motor rotation like a cable too short or something under the foot pedal.
It has zero to do with indexing the foot pedal. Indexing the foot pedal is just setting your preferred position in relation to the direction the motor is pointed.

The included Heading Sensor that talks to the iPilot GPS via Bluetooth is for the Jogging feature. It indicates direction so iPilot knows where left, right, forward, and rearward is--that's the four directions for Jogging.
