I saw a whole new house get pushed over a cliff with a big earth mover once on Eagle Mountain Lake from a disgruntled sub that wasn't paid.Saw a job off Little Road years ago, across from Snappy Jacks if anyone remembers it, the framers had a commercial building all framed and fully decked, they didn't get paid, and pulled it all down level with chains and there trucks.Twice ive seen cabinet makers come in to a new house and take a sledge hammer to the cabinets they made and installed from non payment on new houses about ready to close.....It happens

well I like a lot of these post. I will say getting a lawyer is not always a good answer. The only ones making money are the lawyers and he would have lost a lot of time fighting it. You have a lose lose situation. I get why he did this but he had to know if he did, what the consequences were going to be.

people are getting tired of deadbeats whether not paying a bathroom remodel or freeloaders on the government free payment plans, or illegals coming across the border just pick one or add your own. This political climate is making normal people make bad decisions.

I wonder how this will really come out? I wonder if she bought a car on a pay plan and her car got repossessed would everyone still feel the same? You would have to put money down but until its paid in full it's not paid. I do not believe he went and did that without a lot of back and forth. I heard them say they check with the state and no one else has complained about this contractor, so he doesn't do this most of the time and usually gets paid. I guess this lady was just refusing to pay she said she was waiting to see if she was satisfied. she would have known that when he had her sign off when they finish, that is a accused for not paying. I don't know what the legal ramifications are going to be, but from just listening to the story. she is in the wrong for pushing this to the degree the contractor thought he needed to go repossessed his work and materials. this would be just like if you bought a car from a pay here place. I really don't feel sorry for her pay your bill or complain while they are still there doing the job. I bet this is months down the road from when the work was done.

Putting a hole in the drywall behind the bathroom definitely isn’t good and makes his “we’re repossessing the tile” invalid. Damaging things you didn’t install is a problem.

I get his frustration and that going to court sucks, but this wasn’t the answer either. Gonna be hard to get future jobs, I’d imagine. And his quip about no other licensed contractors fixing it…I’m sure there’s one that would do it just for the positive marketing it would garner. Like it or not, the majority is going to blame him in this deal, even though she didn’t pay upon completion per the contract.

Seems I remember a very prominent politician that frequently did not pay contractors and dared them to litigate.

They signed the papers on Aug 23. Next payment on Sep 3 and the final one was due on the 6th.
They came out on the 11th and destroyed their work although she had already paid $3300 dollars.
What made him do that 5 days after the payment was due is the question.

He said, she said. The courts will decide if she takes it that far.
The contractor is going to be out cash to repair her home along with that much bad publicity.

I wonder what really set him off. He had only been in business in that company since 2018.

There are some people who should not be in business for themselves, this is an example of that.

I totally get the sentiment, but I don't think that's how that works.

I thought the same thing...there are repeat bill skippers out there that could not care a bit about a court date.

Have your lawyer talk to my lawyer and we'll go from there...

I'm sure you let people go for a couple months without paying. Is that true? How did you handle it? How much time did you give?

Cough it up fountain of business wisdom.
