Any word on how the recent stocking of smallmouth on PK went. Probably way too early to tell but I'm hoping we can establish a viable population of smallies again. Does anybody know how many were stocked and what size they were. Probably going to be a few years before they are catchable size but heres hoping they do well.
PK always seemed like a perfect smallmouth lake-the algae blooms kept them from stocking any these past years.

Does anyone know if they have done any stocking at Whitney recently? I think that same algae bloom hit Whitney hard also several years ago.

I do believe I have seen TP&W reports on FB about both lakes receiving stockings this year of smallmouth, but their main web page stocking history report does not reflect that. I am not sure how often they update that.

I know Whitney still has some good ones in there. I see pics every once in a while of some. I fish it a good bit for the past couple years, and have never caught one. I'm planning on running up to Texoma later this fall and trying to get into some. It'd be nice to have a good population in Whitney; it's pretty close to the house. lol

Whitney doesn't have them like they used to, maybe they will start stocking every year again. At the Bohemian classic only 3 were weighed in this year.

I had no clue they had any at all. Fished it for years. Took a buddy of mine out that just got into fishing and he managed one that was 4lbs up in 3 ft of water. Blew my mind. He didn't seem to understand why I was so excited.

They put some in their last year, with the rain they probably went out the gates and down the river.

06/16/2021 Today several Smallmouth Bass brooders moved all the way from East Texas to their new home at the Possum Kingdom State Fish Hatchery. But they brought a few friends, so 70 of these spunky fish were stocked into Possum Kingdom Lake. Keep a lookout for upcoming Smallmouth Bass news as the fish at the hatchery will be used for future spawning.used for future spawning.

They might as well put 2 in it.

They stocked 70 brood fish, and then they also stocked on two separate occasions this summer several Hundred Thousand. I've seen a few picks on FB of some catches so yes it's happening. Go back to work Steeze

This is all great news for PK and Whitney. Doubt many will go over the dam-they are homebodies compared to stripers. I've fished for smallies all my life (used to live on Texoma) here in CO and they are alot of fun on light tackle.
All you need is 8-10 lb line, a med/light rod and tubes.
