If there is one,
What's the general rule as to how long do you wait after a storm like we just had before you hit the bays?
It did get a bit windy and lots of rain but I don't think we had a lot of destruction like with a hurricane.
A day or two and back to norm?

I wouldn't be headed to Sargent. Further south you go the less impact from the storm.

Fishing should be good as long as the water is not muddy. The storm surge brings salinity into the bays that normally have a low salt content. The fish love it for a few days until the rivers bring the fresh water back to the bays.

This always works great for me.

Fishing is great a day or 2 just after a 3-6“ rain. Fish the running water in the guts and bayous draining the estuaries into the bays. Bring your cast net too if you like to catch and eat fresh shrimp. The big white shrimp will begin traveling these guts/cuts out of the estuary migrating to the gulf. That yearly migration peaks on the October full moon. Shrimp will be traveling in large schools migrating across the bays at this time of year . These huge herds of shrimp school mass and travel across the bays to the gulf at night.

Daytime bird fishing is also peaking during this migration the same time in the fall. The fishing is fast and furious fishing, any plastic/fake baits work great and color, size, shape and smell makes no difference.

to me it depends on what kind of storm it is. i live on west galveston bay. it doesn't have a lot of freshwater rivers or bayous coming into it, so out flowing rain water doesn't effect us too much. Nicholas didn't have much wind damage here, so i'd say 4-5 days. Ike however had a bunch of wind and we had all kinds of damage to the marsh and even bay bottom. it took a couple months for fishing to return to anywhere near normal.

A fishing bud from Baytown tells me fishing is good right now after these showers in Burnett Bay near LaPorte/Baytown.
