The Defender LTX M/S is considered an all terrain tire.

It is not an aggressive one like the Falken Wildpeak A/T3TW, the BFG All Terrain T/A KO2, or the Nitto Ridge Grappler.

look at the falken wildpeak at3, put a set on the f150 (285/75/18 10 ply) and am getting excellent treadwear out of them.
have had nitto and cooper at on it too and these are quiet, great in rain and were less cost than either of the others.

Michelin's AT is more HT then AT. Cooper just came out with a new AT that looks like a AT/MT hybrid. It is called Rugged Trek

Love my Toyo AT2's. Great ride and quiet. Tread wear top notch if you rotate every oil change.

I have a 2006 Chevy 2500HD Short wheel base truck, I have bought all kinds of brands and once I bought my first set of Michelin's I will not go back. I have had great mileage and traction of them! Pulling my boat or not smooth as silk and they have handled my numerous highway miles very well. You have to stay on top of your balance & rotation on a regular basis to maximize your tire life. If you contact Michelin they will tell you if you do not like the set you buy they will replace them, if you have a problem with them that the seller cannot or will not fix they will step in and fix the situation. Doesn't get much better then that.

Ive had michellins in the past and they were good, but seems like whenever I tire shot the premium they go for leads me to something else. If I ever buy another set of them it will likely be takeoffs.

Rotated my current set of Cooper AT's on my pickup last night. They started making a little more noise than normal and I notice a slight amount of abnormal wear on the inside of the front tires.... they have 35,000 miles on them and have not been rotated lol. I rotated them last night checked the pressure and this morning they were a bit quieter on the way in. Ill try to be better about my rotation. The tread depth is still over half a penny, but I didn't measure it, they have a lot of tread left.

Not common, but not bs either. I got 101,000 on my original set of Michelins on an F150 and they had more life left in them. Replaced them with the Defender LTX that currently has 55,000 miles on them and they don't look much different than they did brand new.

Now, I drive like a granny, rotate every 7500 miles with oil changes and drive 99.9% of the time on smooth highways and never spin a tire.

I drive like a grandpa. I haven't stopped at a stop sign in 40 years. When the road Y's, I keep going straight. When I get to my destination, I drive back home in reverse so I don't have to turn the wheel. And I still can't get 50k out of crappy @$$ Micheline tires.

I tried a set of Michelin LTX AT2s on my diesel F250. I rotated every 10kmiles. I had my 1st blowout at 28k miles. Less than 1000 miles later a felt a vibration and pulled over- there was a bulge in the tire. I changed it and it blew in the back of the truck the next day before I could get to Discount tire. For the price I was very disappointed. I’m currently running Toyo AT2s - those are at around 40k miles and still have tons of tread. I got around 45 k on the original wranglers. BFG ATs started to loose big chunks of tread at 32k miles. I could get twice that out of a set when I had a gas truck. For a heavy ( ie diesel) truck the Toyos are by far the best I’ve found.

Ran 100K on the original set on a Ford F-150 with two rotations. They still had some life left in them. That made no other choice for a second set. Second set has 60K on them and looks like they will go 100K too. Best tires I ever had on a truck.

Switch brands. You'll get 150k.

Tire life, brake life, and MPGs are all about driving habits. Highway driving is a lot easier on all 3. I try to anticipate what stoplights and traffic is doing. I told my ex often that there are 3 pedals in a vehicle.
