OP CCTX mapquest C Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 40,819 Dallas, TX	Just curious if any early signs with a week of significantly cooler nighttime and morning temps. Hoping it won't be bad this year, considering our relatively mild summer.

rickys Angler Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 289 Dallas	I mowed today, and jumped in the pool after I was done to get the grass off of me. It was cool. The temp has dropped 7 degrees this week.

I think it happens before you see signs in water quality, bubbles, etc. When bait and big fish get dirt shallow I think it's time.

If we have a couple nights of cold weather (usually occurs in late Sept) the surface will cool rapidly and begin to sink. This signals the beginning of lake turnover. It does not happen all over the lake at the same time due to the varying depths.

It's happening soon

markson Angler M Joined: Jun 2016 Posts: 394 TX	Today I noticed a grass lake I fish now has lots of fresh loose grass strands suspended at 8 - 12 feet over 40 fow. Both coon tail and hydrilla. Never seen that before. Last edited by markson; 09/10/21 11:59 PM.
