I have a poleducer for my Livescope transducer. I got a new boat and need to mount it, but don't want to make a mistake drilling into the fiberglass deck. I am right handed, would it be better to mount the pole on the left or right side of the boat? I am thinking if I have the fishing pole in my right hand that the pole might be better on the left side. However, with the trolling motor laying down on the left side, the Livescope pole could interfere with the trolling motor when it is deployed or retracted. Do you prefer the pole on the left or right side, for a right handed person crappie fishing?

put mine on the right...trolling motor on the left. Mine is mounted on the step-pad on the front.

I’m right handed. I have my Poleducer mounted on the left side. I hold my rod in my right hand and spin the Poleducer with my left hand while searching for the next fish or when pitching to a fish. David mounted it on my Ultrex bracket so that there would be no need to drill new holes through the fiberglass.

I built my livescope pole from an old Tri-pod speaker stand. I didn't want to drill through my fiberglass as well.
I came up with this idea while being quarantined with Covid in January. I bought a 3' piece of 1" aluminum tube. The other parts are for bimini tops. I repurposed them. The idea worked. My pole is stable and not mounted to my fiberglass. [Linked Image]

Left side for sure! you can make it all fit. remember you have to be able to get on the boat when you launch. I need one side clear (starboard side) so i can get on board without tripping myself up!

Left side. Ultrex goes over it when stowed.

Thanks for the suggestions. Slewfoot suggested I mount it on my left hand bow cleat to avoid drilling more holes in the boat, so yesterday afternoon I "engineered" a way to mount my RAM mount ball on the cleat. I will test it out this weekend, but it looks promising.

What did you come up with on the “engineering”? Post up some pics. I’m looking for ideas as well.

How do it work out? Post some pics of the cleat mount.

I use mine on both sides, just depends on what I’m fishing and wind direction. I use the fishing specialty’s pole and have adjustable mounts that can be turned inside of the rub rail for docking and trailering.

This is what I came up with. I found a stainless steel clamp for one side and used a corner brace that I cut and doubled up for additional stiffness. I used these to secure the RAM mount ball to the cleat. I used a scrap of carpet between the RAM mount and the cleat.
