Located a few miles south of Fredericksburg. It's kinda hard to find, but maybe puts out the best burgers in the state of Texas.

We were there today for lunch and I had the "Cover Burger", which is a burger that Texas Monthly Magazine used on the cover of their magazine when they said this was the best burger place in the state. This monster is a full half-pound of ground beef on a jalapeño cheese bun topped with grilled onions, avocado, green chiles, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. My wife built a concoction of beef patty, blu cheese, bacon, avocado, lettuce, and tomato. Sides were hand-cut fries, and onion rings. My belly just barely fit behind the steering wheel on the way home.

You know what you would like? I've been going there even longer and not one thing has changed in all that time.

The old beer box where you serve yourself and then tell them how many you had -- still there.

The mis-matched tables and chairs -- still there.

The goofy signs on the wall -- still there.

The good ole Texas boys country music -- still there, even with the same songs that are now classics. And NO NASHVILLE stuff is allowed.

The same great burgers -- still there.

It's hard to find out in the middle of nowhere, but if you do it's greatness.

The original owner has an interesting history. It's been on one of the food channels, and Texas Monthly magazine.

Biden famously said in the New York Observer, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

We went out for lunch in October and tried to decide if it is a cafe or a beer joint! Honor System sells a lot of beer. Burgers are OK but nothing special. Owner is friendly and definitely “hands on” with the operation. Lots of roadkilled deer so I imagine the bikers have to be careful.
