Planning on doing some fishing at Joe Pool lake. Don't know much about the lake but I was wondering how the crappie fishing is there.

I've only been on JP a handful of times. What i can tell you is that if you go on a weekend during the summer you're taking your life in your own hands of you're North of the Lakeview Parkway bridge. Skiers, tubers, jetskiers and pleasure boaters will be THICK. The good news is that South of the bridge on both arms of the lake is LOADED with standing timber. The bridge over both arms is also usually a good spot to chase crappie. The book on JP is normally good numbers with lots of dinks and a few keepers mixed in.

It's definitely not Ray Roberts. It has crappie but they are mostly small. I was there last week and caught fish and some nice fish but not many and I had to work for them.

I went to Joe Pool on Monday and caught 19. Caught all of them under the bridge in the creek channel. They only wanted minnows they were even biting the dead ones. This was in a couple of hrs from about 1030am- 1230.
