So my 5th grade son goes to the school nurse this morning. The call my wife and say he has a subjective fever and a cough. Well he has allergies, always has. The send him home for 2 weeks no questions asked. Seems like if he doesn't have covid he should be able to go to school when he feels better.
*********Called the nurse myself, he can return with a negative test and improved symptoms*********
His older brother went home with a sore throat and actual fever, HAS COVID
Oh lord, lol.

"Subjective" fever? I'm guessing the school nurse has a thermometer?

Hey Brian, what’s the question?
It’s kind of the world we live in today. If it’s just allergies then he should be able to stay.

WTH?
Subjective means they put their hand on his forehead........"Objective" or using an actual thermometer is the correct and accurate way.

WTH is a subjective fever? The person who cuts my hair said the school sent her 6 year old granddaughter home from school because she complained of a tummy ache. They said she was exhibiting Covid signs and needed to quarantine. An hour after she got home she was feeling fine again. The schools have become even more stupid than usual.
edit; thanks outdoor-addict for explaining what a subjective fever is, dont remember ever hearing of it.

We do rapid testing on our campus, with parent permission we test them first. If positive 10 days quarantine period. If negative 24 hours fever free and they come back.

Covid fueled power trips by people who have been nobodies their entire lives. Now they feel empowered.

Over 101.4 mandatory PCR covid test before returning. (Not a quick test) They offer the quifk tests at school. Not sure what ISD... LISD here The rules are vague enough that they can do what ever they want

Hey Brian, what’s the question?
It’s kind of the world we live in today. If it’s just allergies then he should be able to stay. If he goes and have a negative test he still can't return till the 13th. McKinney ISD. They had no problem keeping his twin sister in school.

This If this was my Senior year I would be eaten this up 14 days of dove hunting and fishing then Oct. 14 days bow hunting and then Nov. 14 days rifle hunting then Christmas break 14 days after school resumed for News year probably why I'm dumb and can't type.

The policy for my kid's school for a fever is 101*. It sounds like the "subjective" fever is a mechanism to keep anyone with questionable symptoms out of class. You can claim subjective fever on just about anyone at any time. If their head is warmer than your hand, that is a subjective fever.
IMO this is not a bad thing. The policy should be if you are showing ANY symptoms then you should not be hanging out in public. Sure that means that half of us will have to quarantine during ragweed & cedar season, but that is what will get us out of the stupid mask-vaccine-shutdown mode. This is not just for schools, but for everybody.
