Hey Danial,

Ideally live shad have been working best for me, but we've caught some on slabs as well. 1 ounce chartreuse or glitter slabs from RSR lures. I've spoke to several people who have been catching them on the Mepps or MAL lure. There has been some fish feeding on the surface too. Sometimes the birds will show those fish and sometimes there's not a bird in sight. 15-30 foot of water has been the best. Most fish are still relating to some sort of structure, whether it be a big flat, point, or hump. I'm not sure where you'll be launching from, but hopefully you have some sort of electronics to help you get on these structures. Lake Park, Twin Trees, Solo Polo, Vaughn's Hump, both cuts. Good luck!

Wes hit the nail on the head. Just depends on where you are launching from and what is the closest to you.

I am wanting to put my grandson on some sandies. Fishing kayaks out of Hickory Creek Park. I figure most of the topwater action would be out on the main lake which is out of reach. Normally, I would head under the bridge to fish for crappie, but I want to get this boy, “hooked” on fishing and schooling sandies are the best way IMO. Being these are pedal yaks, I can cover a decent amount of water but don’t want to tire him out too much.

I know how to fish for sandies, been doing it for years on Lewisville. Just not under these circumstances.

I have Livescope and standard 2d, down, side imaging to locate with.

Fishin' to stock Lake Crisco.
