Frogs aren't super easy to skip back into places. The skirt catches water and spins and flips them. Plus they are light. Try some different brands. Also, I'm sure you know but don't use popping frogs to try.

Definitely takes alot of practice and finding a rod that works for you. It doesn't necessarily need to be a frog rod. Some guys like 6'6-6'10 pitching stick type rods. A little tip helps. The strike king pad perch skips the easiest in my opinion, spro next. I also like a braid that gets very soft. Original suffix braid is a good choice

I have found skipping has alot to do with the amount of line you have out.

I can't skip a frog well on my 736 Dobyns. I have to use a softer tip rod if I'm wanting to skip

You said "anything else on my report card." Can you skip a jig? If not, work on that and "master" it. Then branch back out into frogs, swim baits, chatter baits, buzz baits, etc.

Every time I skip a frog, the line foul hooks itself onto the hooks and the frog twists and doesn’t walk. I gave up on the frog skipping.

Anything with an arkie style head or flatter bottom surface (think trying to pick the best skipping rock...). Most "flipping" style jig heads will work and some companies will make a jig specifically called a "skipping jig." You can skip ball head jigs, swim jigs, and even football jigs, but don't start there.

I don't pour my own jig heads, but I'll buy some of the different boss jig heads like these, tie or make my own skirts and put them on there.

Everyone has their favorite jig, but just buy a couple different ones in the style I'm talking about, then figure out which one works best for you. 3/8 oz or 1/2 oz both work well.

I skip a senko like a pro. There are days I can get a frog to skip and there are days I can't, so I don't have the perfect "muscle memory". If you have trouble skipping forehand, try a low backhand roll cast and see if that helps you get it moving on the surface.

Z-Man Crosseyez Flippin Jig is an excellent skipper and a good all around jig. Half ounce works the best and weighs about 3/4 ounce with a trailer.
That's about ideal for skipping with a baitcaster. Use a flat trailer like a Rage Bug.

Lews make the Lews Pro SP reel that is specifically designed for skipping. If you want to spend $200 it might be a good investment.

Takes some practice.
Submarine side arm cast with the rod traveling almost parallel to the water.
It’s even easier to do it backhanded; like a one armed backhand in tennis.
Have your thumb feathering the spool when the frog or other lure makes its first skip on the water.
