Caught a quick limit Sunday afternoon sitting in 1 spot. 17 fow, fishing 6-8’ down. I don’t have much info as to how the lakes been fishing since this was only my 2nd trip in the last few weeks.

I also caught this big ‘ol flathead in early July. Easily the biggest fish I’ve ever landed on a Crappie rig. Darn good eating and a lot of fun too.

It was! Switching over to better gear earlier this year made the difference.

Awesome! Need to get back out there. Were they hitting jigs or all minnows?

I caught the first ~5 on minnows and the rest on jigs. They were hitting so fast and consistent that I switched over to jigs just to get back down there as quick as possible.

It was as interesting of a set up as I’ve seen. I was in the last deep water between 2 flats and schools of fish had a bunch of bait pushed up against that wall. They just kept coming in waves from 30 yards away swimming straight at me. All I had to do was get a hook down there.

Haha. I don’t usually keep anything bigger than 4-5lbs, but my buddy didn’t believe me when I said the big ones are good eating too. He’s a believer now.

I think you’re right. I’m catching a flathead almost every trip lately.
