The "Livescope pole location" thread got me thinking about this. I'm right handed, I reel with my right hand. But if I'm working a jig at same depth I switch poll to right hand, and if I'm working Livescope, always done with left hand and work jig with right hand.

Do you reel with dominant hand?

I reel a baitcaster with my right hand ( my dominant hand) , but I prefer to use my left hand on spinning reels.

Your poll needs more than two choices

I use lefty reels as a righty main hand. I'd rather have my dominant arm controlling the rod. Also I can cast and begin to reel without swapping hands with the rod.

Interesting, I think I’m gonna switch and start reeling my spinner with my left hand, seems like it would be an easy switch. Keep pole in my right hand all the time, reel and work livescope with my left hand. Never even thought about this before.

X4. Bought my first baitcaster at 40. After using spinning gear all my life, I found it really awkward reeling with my right hand so I sold that reel and bought a left-handed baitcaster. Never looked back.

I pitch and fish with the rod in my right hand and reel with my left. When I use a baitcaster I use a right hand reel and hold it upside down and reel backwards with my left hand. It balances perfectly in my hand if I grab the rod right above the reel and hold it upside down. I've done it that way for so long it's natural to me now.

Rod in dominant (right) hand for everything. I want that arm to set the hook and fight the fish.

I don’t know how I got myself confused on this, I do actually reel with my left non-dominant hand. I must be getting old.

What he said!

I grew up using strictly spinning rigs and reeled with my left (non-dominant) hand. When I got my first baitcaster it felt weird to reel with the "wrong" hand, so now I buy left handed baitcasters.
