Man there is no way I would get rid of all of my Shimano reels but I have added several Daiwa's to the arsenal and hopefully they will hold up for years to come.
cheers

I fish strictly Daiwa, that being said I used Shimano for years and have nothing but good things to say about them. The reason I switched was I was gifted a Steez about 10 yrs ago and fell in love, My arsenal now has 8 Steez, probably 20 Zillions, and easily 25 Tatula's almost all SVTW's. I literally have had zero problems out of any of them. Granted I haven't fished as hard in the last few years but I have no reason to suspect any failures in the future either.

Well goodluck when you have a reel break because you won't be able to get any parts for a few months... daiwa is good for finesse stuff but the other reels aren't that impressive.

I have some of the OG reels from Diawa and some of the new...they all have a place in my boat.

The OG Alpha frames (Sol, Pixy, Type R, Fuego, etc..) these are my cranking reels and chatterbait reels. They are rugged and have brass gears that are in the 5.8:1 - 6.3:1 setups.

My Steez and Tatula SV reels are my jig, t-rigs, workhorse reels. They get the most use and have higher ratios like 7:1 or 8:1. I also use these on my top water baits as they don't backlash as often.

I don't buy my reels new as I wait a year or two for the reel geeks to unload their "old" reels and buy the latest greatest. This is when you can find the deals.

Happy hunting and it'll make you happy fishing.

You all that are looking for parts must be rough on your reels.
In the past 20 years I have not had to get 1 part for any of mine. I have had some go bad but they were pretty old and really outdated for what I was needing.
I remember when the Daiwa 5:1 reels were the fastest around, now I use those only for my deep diving crankbaits.
I'll stay with my Daiwa as I have now for 30+ years, with less than a handful going bad after a few years of use, and by use I mean on the water at least 100 days a year of use.
I do think they are other good brands on the market too, just not Daiwa.

Yep! They are also great guy to deal with! They ship orders fast and you get the stuff a day or two faster than Tackle Warehouse.

I use TackleTrap for my cleaning and repairs on my reels as well. Bryan knows his stuff and has helped me with a few problem reels.

They can also get parts for older reels like the OG Sol and Fuego.
