You are correct ,Sir. Nothing we or any other country that has been there has done will change anything with those people. All they have known for generations is fighting. When they are the only ones left they will fight each other.

What's done is done, so the best thing we can learn is not to stick our nose into everybody else's business.

You can’t build a country out of a decentralized bunch of tribes who hate each other. I don’t care if you put 40,50, 100 years (not to mention how many dollars) into it, it’s not gonna happen. We should’ve never engaged in nation building, then pull out, and expect any different result. The amount of blood spilled and treasure wasted over there is astounding. And for what? So we can give the Tali’s a bunch of drones, helicopters, arms, and brand new Toyota trucks?

I take that back. We fought over there to prevent another 9/11 here, and for 20 years, that held true. But what happens now?

IF we ever make a return trip over there to right another wrong, do it with moabs n cruise missiles, period.

I hate to see the tragic loss of so many fine American soldiers and support personnel over the last 20 years just to hand over the country to the terrorists. Billions of dollars down the tubes. Let this be a lesson learned the hard way. We need to stay the heck out of that part of the world with the exception of protecting Israel if needed.

If you look at the past, anyplace that we have gone to war, or temporarily occupied and tied to set up a "friendly" government without leaving a permanent military presence, it has fallen into civil war or been overthrown fairly quickly. We fought in Europe in WW1 and left, had to go back for WW2. We left bases in Europe and Asia after WW2 and haven't had major problems. Korea? Yup, still in South Korea and it has held up. We should never have tried to set up a government in Afghanistan. We should have retaliated for the 9/11 attacks with wiping out the terrorist camps and captured or killed OBL, but never should we have tried to establish American Values there. They have a long history of being tribal and waiting out invaders, only to revert back to their old ways once the invaders leave.

I’m not sure what I learned, but right about now, the Afghans who decided to help us over there are learning not to ever do that again.

I’m not a Harvard educated foreign diplomat but I saw this coming. The Chinese will move in and will show how it’s done, and by done I mean working over the rare earth minerals without interfering one bit in how the Afghans run their country.
