Is anyone aware of someone in local area that repairs D/F/GPS units? Since this model has been discontinued H/B wants more for repair than the unit is worth.

It's either Hbird or nobody. Normally the older the unit the better the chance is if you pay the service fee they may send you a solix. Just something to consider

There is a place in Springfield, MO that works on units. It is called Clear Cast Marine. You might give them a call. 417-851-6926

I sent one in to HB a couple of years ago, they ended up sending me a Solix as stated above, your results could be different, but they made a customer service believer in me.
