How many of ya'll are using the FG knot? Currently, I use the Alberto knot when going braid to FC or braid/mono.
I have practiced this knot a couple times but man... I don't know if this is worth the hassle! I do occasionally run into issues with the Alberto knot running smoothly through guides (I sometimes use a 5-6' leader).
Does this damn thing get easier?? I have watched about 20 videos and it still seems really challenging. Also, I have giant hands which may make it more difficult.
All the best!!

To me, not worth the time. I can tie a double uni in about a minute. It goes through the guides just fine and has never failed me. I have tried to tie the FG numerous times and it comes out right 1 out of every 4 or 5 tries.

Heck with the FG. I watched so many people tie it and had other people watch the videos too and no success. They were unable to tie it as well. I CAN tie the Crazy Alberto. Sticking with it! Confident that all the Alberto haters will chime in. I like the Alberto and I can tie it in a boat in rough water! Good luck.

Nope. And imagine trying to tie it on a rocking boat out in the wind?! Try this knot. Cut your leader material first, then tie. Easy. Very tight and small knot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDxGy3Nld2g

I'm using it now - but only when I have time to tie it before going on the water. On the water it's just too much of a pain. Go watch Swindle's video, that is the one I found that worked for me.

Like BASSCATONE I used the crazy alberto too. Once in a while I tie it wrong and it is just to thick to go thru smoothly thus backlashes. But it is still easier for me than the uni. Usually the line breaks before the knot fails.

I do. I have to use both hands, teeth & step on the leader end to keep tight tension, but I can tie it. It's the only knot I'll use for braid to FC.
I might not tying it the proper way, but what I do works. I've never had knot failure and the knot goes through the guides effortlessly.

Only time I have a leader is with a C-Rig. Other then that its straight fluro or straight braid. No muss, no fuss.

Same; have to use every limb and digit to do it but it performs so nice when done right. Practice practice practice. It'll always be tedious but it really only takes a minute or two if you end up needing to retie.

Have been tying the Dodd knot with some success (found it simpler than the FG). Generally try and stay away from Fluoro but have found that in very clear water have to break down and use it. When I do it is on a braid main line with Fluoro leader so I can change it all the time. link to Dodd knot video

I used to have the problem with Alberto hanging up in guides. Mostly just really gotta get tag trimmed very close. It is a beating tying one in the wind but I rarely have had to do that. Just a good knot
