Anyone know about the fishing at Choke since the water has come way up? I have not fished it anywhere near this level. Headed there over Labor Day.

It’s basically just back to where it was last year. It hasn’t come way up in about 3 years.

It’s been slow, real slow. I don’t know if the super hero pose guys killed a bunch of fish or if the meat hunters took out a bunch; but it’s not fishing great. Maybe in the fall it’ll pick up. As far as lake level, it’s pretty safe at this level.

It looks like Choke is up about 7 feet from last spring and about 4 feet from a year ago based on Water Data. Is the affecting the lake significantly? I thought the lake fished great last summer.

Lol, I’m guessing you’re at Fork. Is there no hydrilla there?

Well it’s like this. Guys ran their mouths on FB and the Internet, next thing you knew, there were no parking spots at 2 of the ramps. The lake was beat to a pulp and you’d be shocked at how many people keep what they catch, I know I was. Could just be the summer heat or it could have been something in the rain water run off, but no matter what it was....it’s slow!

Wow, I was there this spring and the grass had started growing back nicely. My waypoints will all be in deep territory. It will be nice if the sandbar I kept hitting while loading at South Shore is far enough under water to clear.

A bit of confusion in this thread. Choke has hydrilla and a lot of it, we were talking about Fork not having grass, which is sad.

The sand bar is deep enough to not hit, but I have a habit of backing up a ways now after whacking my prop on it last year.

The economy could use the money, so come on down. You might load up a few of those Fork bass and being them down with you.

Spent a few days at Choke last week. Fishing was a bit slow but still got some 4 pound + fish. Lake looked much different that last Spring. All the same spots produced fish - just slower. All the best fish came from rubber worms. My grade for Choke would be C+. On the other hand, we went to Falcon for a day and would rate it a solid A.
