I would think if Covid and Flu present with same symptoms, it would be helpful to differentiate between the two ( especially from a statistical point of view ).

I believe I'd be more inclined to not "panic" and head to hospital if I knew what I had was a Flu.

Incorrect. The first test developed by CDC in Feb 2020 is specific for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The second test developed by CDC in July 2020 is called Multiplex Assay and simultaneously gives accurate results about the presence of SARS-CoV-2, influenza A, and influenza B. According to CDC: "Symptoms for COVID-19 and the Flu can be similar, so testing for all three viruses at the same time will provide public health officials with information they need to help reduce the spread of these viruses in the community while conserving resources that are in short supply."

This is correct. BUT, there's already been more than enough evidence and knowledge showing that the previous tests were highly innaccurate and highly prone to false positives. The Multiplex test could also be prone to the same problems on the Covid portion of the test.

The flu didn’t magically disappear as it appears to since the multiplex testing began either, so...

What’s the point of testing for the flu if everything is labeled covid?
What’s the point of a multiplex test if a covid positive overrides a flu positive?

To the OP, you sound like a warrior. Glad you’re feeling better 👍
