So would braid be ok or should I get like 30 40 lb big game. As for weights I was watching videos and they had lead with spikes.

I don't use braid myself. Just a good brand of fluro mainline and leader line. Those weights you speak of are called "spider weights" and can get very pricey. Used from piers and the surf. They dig in and hold in fast currents. Those weights are used above my leader line and it's swivel. All my heavy setups are Carolina rigged. Egg weights are used on the light stuff except under a cork.

Braid will work fine if you use at least a mono or fluoro leader (actually it'll work fine without the leader). Those spider weights are more for fishing from the beach where the spikes can dig into the sand and hold. If there's no current a medium size splitshot will work fine depending on what bait you're using. May need to go to a carolina rig with an egg weight. Yep like fishing for catfish. Really no different. Get an extention for your net if the pier is tall. If you get a decent fish you'll lose some trying to raise them up and over the rail by hand.

You get out of it what you put into it!

Masks??? I highly doubt masks should ever be considered fishing gear.

I fished Seawolf park on the 7th. tons of bait in the water. wade fisherman were catching a few trout in the morning on the north side by the entrance. they were using live shrimp and artificials under popping corks saw a few caught. we fished north side both morning and evening from the rocks and only caught a sand trout in the morning on artificials switched to cut mullet and dead shrimp in the evening and caught a hard head and a croaker. so many bait bandits it was frustrating. saw a small blacktip shark caught so i would recoment wire leader for cut bait. i would highly recommend gold or silver spoon 1/2 to 3/4 oz. good luck.

The Team's annual fishing trip the Texas Coast is in the books. We fished the Galveston Fishing Pier for four days and came away with several Personal Bests with a 41 inch Redfish, a 38 inch Redfish, a 33 inch Black Drum, and a 54 inch Black Tip Shark! Do check out the video as I summarize the Team's fishing fun and point out several lessons learned to keep at the ready next trip!

Almost a year later but tails took awhile to cure. Tailmounts are almost done. Just in time for us to hit the coast again!

Shark and Redfish Tailmounts are coming along! 😃 #fishing #shark #redfish
