My BIL is 86 and quite remarkable. He flew a plane in today and asked my wife to pick him up. He's sharp as a tack, still works, drives and still flys. Quite remarkable at that age.

I concur. Most arenโ€™t so fortunate.

My father in law was still flying a plane and riding a motorcycle up until he was about 82. He was also still painting cars, doing most of his yard work, etc. I was very impressed.

my dad is 87 , still leads birding trips and/or goes birding 4 to 5 days a week where he walks about 3-5 miles each time , in rough terrain , elevations of up 1500-2000 feet .
Does all his own yard work , works on most of his cars himself . The funny thing , he was diagnosed with Addison's disease in 1961 ( which was very rare and only because JFK was similarly diagnosed did they know what he had ) . Dr's didn't think he would make it past 30 .
He has always had a simple health approach ----- don't eat too much ever , and don't sit down and waste time -- " that will kill you quick as anything "
I don't let him climb on his roof , use power tools or ladders anymore --- so I just do those things for him.
I can only hope that I live that good .

Very impressive, I can only hope to be as blessed as these men. Lost my dad when he was 67.

Wife's uncle & surrogate father recently celebrated his 99th. He's had to slow down. Why? At 94yo,riding, fell off his horse and broke his hip, required full joint replacement. Says if it wasn't for the fact that he can't straddle a saddle anymore he'd be back in the saddle. I hope I can do as well when I'm in my 90s...God willing I live that long.

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

Doing those things can keep one sharp as a tack.
