I just want to add that I’m on vacation. I’m not in New York. I’m not doing a blog, and that’s that.

I KNOW I couldn’t. I’d get mugged in about 1 block. They know us guys from the country. We walk with our heads looking straight up at the skyscrapers. The locals NEVER look up.

I haven’t been there since I was a youngster, lots of other places I would like to see. The 911 memorial would make me well up though

I’m only having a good time for the kids. I have no use for this city. Too many damn people and too expensive. But we were going upstate for a family reunion (wife’s side, no Yankees in the Akins clan), and daughter wanted to come see NYC. We did stop by West Point on our way back from Rome and it was cool. My wife’s uncle was a Brigadier General who’s buried there so we saw that.

Everyone should experience NYC in person at least once in their life. We've been once and that was enough. But I actually enjoyed it for our 4 days we were there. It's a totally different way of life. Bigtime expensive and all the people are unfriendly for the most part. Nice smallie, though, RATZ. You've got the right attitude just enjoying family wherever the path leads you. thumb

Nice Smallie. Not a fan of NYC, but the Italian food is great! When in little Italy ask around about caguzza or caguzzi, its a squash and very delicious, cooked mainly in a tomato broth. Also check out a Papaya King, the Papaya drink is so delicious. Wish we had one here in Houston. Enjoy the trip with the family.

Reality. What a concept!

I'd go just to eat my way across it. Anything you could ever want.

My experiences with upstate is it's gorgeous. Need the backstory on the smallie.

We're getting daily updates on the trip from Mrs. Ratz via texts, and it looks like they're having a good time. Brandon even almost smiled in one pix, and I learned that my grandson is not a big fan of walking and/or museums!

Family is everything!

Life is precious. We don’t have forever. We have now. This moment. We can choose to love our lives now.
