Yes Sir, that is fishing in some very tough conditions. You made the right call cutting your trip short.

Some of the wakes those boats throw off should be illegal. I have had waves come over the side of my boat several times and I have a GatorTrax. And they will send those waves into the boat ramp as well. Last Saturday I rushed to get my boat pulled out because a wake boat sent huge waves at me, my boat on the trailer in the water the waves would come over the transom for sure.

I’ve dealt with that [censored] on the Vine before with those surf boats. As Crazy said above, those should be illegal. It wasn’t enough I guess to install mega watt stereos with boom mounted speakers blasting profanity laced music to young ears so they came up with a boat that creates a massive wake so people can surf without going to the ocean. Courtesy on the water is a thing of the past I’m afraid.
The only good thing is I feel fairly safe in my yak as it tends to ride the waves as was seen in the video above.

I wish they would ban wake boats from these freshwater lakes-especially the smaller lakes. I've seen where it look like you were in a washing machine-makes me nuts! Glad you weren't capsized...I've heard some stories! Well...school is about to begin in a week or two!! Weekdays will be back to normal at least!!!

I will start out saying that I feel the same way everybody else does about wakeboarder's. But I have to ask the question. If you knew that lake had the reputation for that kind of behavior why were you surprised when it happened? You were the one that made the decision to take a small boat out into open water knowing the high probability of encountering big waves. When you fish out of small boats it is your responsibility to make smart decisions as to where it is safe. Knowing your vast knowledge of the area lakes there had to be better places to go to catch a few crappie. Sorry but you were the one responsible for being out there

Wake boats is just something you got to deal with and watch out for. You can encounter them on any lake, make sure your bilge bump works, learn the right angle to ride them in your boat, and look for them at the boat ramp before loading and unloading. And maybe take some eggs to throw at them if they get too close.

For me, that does not excuse the lack of courtesy that I experienced this day. I am not looking for a pity party at all and I was mainly showing that sometimes you have to know when to call it when things get bad.
