My wife and I are staying a week there from August 6-13. Gonna have middle daughter and her two boys with us. Staying at Holiday Vacation Club I think it’s called. Just wondering if you guys have any recommendations for hiring a crappie guide for me and my grandson. Probably just be a half day trip as I’m not sure he would want to stay much longer than that. I thought about pulling my bass boat over there but now I’m thinking we might just hire a guide for a short trip. Any idea what it will cost and who to hire for a guide? Thanks in advance for your help. Also any recommendations on places to eat in that area would be a big help also.

Mark Standridge if he has an opening his number is 903 275-4712.
Another good guy is Todd Frobe 817 781-8382.

I have fished with both these guides and they are top notch!!!

Thank you sir! I could do the 10th or 11th if either of those days would work FF. I get $350 for 1 or 2 people on Palestine and clean and bag all the fish and provide all the tackle. Have cold waters on the boat, just bring snacks, and anything else you want to drink, sunblock, and a small cooler with ice to take fillets home in! I'd suggest Stanleys BBQ in Tyler one day for sure! Get a Super Deluxe and a Mother Clucker and split them! Their potato salad is pretty salty too! Fan of Jalapeno Tree mexican food, and I like Circle M in Big sandy, Seth's, and Wades Place in Chandler but comning from BR you might have all that you want there!

Thanks for the replies. Todd, I’ll get in touch as soon as I know for sure what days are good for us to go. And thanks for the dining recommendations.

Just went out with Todd Froebe on July 20th with both my boys and we were blessed enough to get a 3 Man Limit.

Mark Standridge also an outstanding Guide and you can’t go wrong with either of them.

Both will put fish in the boat.

I have fished with Todd on lake Palestine and we killed them. He is great with kids and livescope too!

As far as the cost goes I think that trip probably cost me about $15,000. 12” Garmin graph, Livescope, new trolling motor, a box full of super long rods and reels, hundreds of different jigs and jigheads…

In addition to Todd and 3nails as mentioned above I would add Clay Gann

I've got 2 Sundays open in late August and a couple other days I might could do and a couple weekdays mid Sept I can fish. Fall fishing will be here before you know it and I'm about booked up weekends in Oct. Sept is busy with tournaments! Clay has some openings as early as next week if somebody wanted to get on the slabs I would give him a shout!

Thanks!
