Taking a couple of catfish rods and a couple of bass rods.

Planning on hitting Seawolf Park, San Luis, and the Texas City Jetty. Throwing shrimp, topwaters, and flukes.

This will be my first time fishing saltwater from the shore without a guide any advice would be much appreciated.

Let us know how it goes… I’ll be down in September taking some rods as well but I did book a guide for a 6hr trip

Be very careful shore fishing San Luis. People drown there every year with the ripping currents it gets. Good luck!

Try the TC Dike at the far end. Weekends/Holidays $10 per car fee for out of towner's !! No bait camps ON the Dike. Boyd's One Stop/Bait Camp at the base of the Dike has all your needs. NO BOOZE SOLD THERE. I think they still open at 5am. Pay attention on slot limits on some fish. Some changed this year. Most people fish the south side of the Dike and usually congregate at the very end.....Dike is 5 1/4 miles long. Speed limit is 25mph and PoPo patrolled .

How did it go?

Just got back. Didn't do to well. I fished the Dike with shrimp and threw some artificial baits with no luck. Nobody around was catching any that day either. Seawolf park was the same story. Night fished at the 61st street pier and caught a few sand trout and hard head catfish on squid.

Not the most productive but still beats a day of work!

It happens. I've fished a lot of areas around here and some days you couldn't give a shrimp away......not even to trash fish.
