Wow, this was news to me. They’ve made it to Texas. Wonder how this has/will affect our native populations. Asian Carp Invasion

That can't be good news. I had not heard that they had made it to Texas either.

I think you are mistaken. The first sentence in this article says: Plano native, and some friends went bow fishing in Lake Kentucky, along the Tennessee River in Kentucky and Tennessee. I believe the Asian carp were caught in the Kentucky / Tennessee area in this article you attached.
Give a man a fish he can eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and you can get rid of him for the entire weekend!

"To prevent the spread of these invasive species, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission recently passed regulations that ban transporting any live nongame fish from Northeast Texas waters where they've been spotted, including the Sulphur River downstream of Lake Wright Patman and Big Cypress Bayou downstream of Lake O’ the Pines.
Last month, Banaszak set out to find these carp in Texas waters. And he did. In fact, he’s now the first person on record to catch a silver carp in the state. "
This was further into the article. Sounds like they are here.

That can't be good news. I had not heard that they had made it to Texas either. Oh they're here, and have been for some time! I've never seen them in person but have seen photos of them from Denison Dam all the way down the Red. As much time as I've spent on that river I'm surprised I haven't seen or caught any yet.

Oddly enough, I just received this email. Looks like I was the one who was mistaken. My apologies!

quote from article —
“He floated down to Choctaw Creek, a Texas tributary of the Red River approximately 15 miles downstream from Lake Texoma. This area is considered to be in Texas”
Boys, I really hate to say this, but an Asian carp infestation makes zebra mussels look like patty cakes.

Here's a question for the rough fish lovers: Can you scare a small school of buffalo up and into jumping by revving up, just like the Asian carp are scared into jumping by revving motors? I ask because I saw something strange, from a distance, on Lewisvlle Lake last week ... a boat was idling around the mouth of of Pecan Creek when suddenly a small school of big fish started jumping right around that boat - out of the water to top of gunnels, but not like the videos show Asian jumping 5 feet in the air. And then it stopped. These guys kept motoring, but when I went over in their direction to talk to them - and GPS the spot - they blasted out of there. I had to rethink. Were they shocking fish, or something like that? I am definitely second guessing my Asian carp thoughts. Maybe just buffalo.

May have been big shad. I doubt that the asian carp would have made it into the lake .
