Most of us carry these items in the tackle box anyway: bobber tie, popping cork, sinker slider, snap & swivel. For heavy lures you won't need the sinker slider, snap or swivel to get down to a known depth. For small boats, kayaks, 2 person rigs that normally don't carry a downrigger.
