Took my daughter fishing at the Lewisville barge. It's in better shape now than it was a few years ago. Over the years, my experiences with fishing at this place have been that it's more comfortable fishing inside in than it is to fish outside on a really hot day. "Catching" isn't quite as important ... but ... to an 8 year old, catching matters or it gets boring.

Thankfully the bluegill were very accommodating and I stopped counting after the first dozen or so that she pulled up. Quite a few big chunky ones that, in hindsight, I should've kept to fillet. I was soaking corn on a small hook for carp & buffalo. Had a few hookups, but lost every single one of the buggers.

Took her again yesterday and I was reminded of one of the big reasons that I stopped fishing there. Noise. Theres a flatscreen TV for the employees, and the bloody thing was cranked to full volume, so loud that you couldn't even make out dialogue, and it made holding a conversation almost impossible.

Yes, I know, some people have to have a tv or radio or something blasting noise at all times. I'm not one of them.

You and your daughter will always have the memories for a lifetime. Love threads like these!


Side Note: I have not seen any barges here in my area where I fish. Would not mind trying them. However I just changed my mind after reading your current post. Anyway keep making those memories.

Excellent story and great pic. Brings back great memories of when my 36 y/o daughter was that age. Keep a copy of that pic and look at it in 28 years. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a tear in your eye.
